Shuttle disintegrates, 7 astronauts dead
February 1, 2003: The space shuttle Columbia disintegrated on descent through the atmosphere, killing astronauts David Brown, Rick Husband, Laurel Clark, Kalpana Chawla, Michael Anderson, William McCool, and Ilan Ramon, Israel's first astronaut, from left.
